Acura recently unveiled the 2024 Integra Type S, a more powerful and more dynamic version of the new compact sedan. Here are three things you need to know about this new high-performance Acura model.
A 320-horsepower turbocharged engine
The 2024 Acura Integra Type S is a premium version of the Honda Civic Type R, which means it is powered by a slightly more powerful version of the same engine. This advanced 2.0L turbocharged VTEC four-cylinder engine delivers 320 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels via the only six-speed manual transmission offered in the segment. This output is 120 horsepower and 118 lb-ft higher than the regular Integra, and the highest of any compact sports sedan. Even more impressive, making 320 horsepower out of 2.0L of engine capacity results in the highest horsepower per liter ratio in the segment, at 160 hp/L.
Fine-tuned handling
While going fast in a straight line is impressive on its own, Acura is known for making some of the best-handling sports cars around and the 2024 Integra Type S is not an exception. Indeed, this new model benefits from the best horsepower-to-weight ratio of any compact sports car in Canada since every horsepower only needs to carry 10.1 pounds. In addition, the Type S features wider front and rear tracks than the normal Integra and an innovative dual-axis front suspension that reduces torque steer. The Integra Type S also comes standard with adaptive dampers controlled via a drive mode selector, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance tires to better grip the road. To control the Type S’ performance, 13.8-inch rotors are clamped by 4-piston Brembo calipers at the front and functional cooling ducts are provided in the bumper to help the brakes perform at their best while driving on a track.
More luxury than you might think
The 2024 Acura Integra Type S is more than just a sports car since it is still a premium compact sedan. This means that the interior benefits from a number of features that are not usually seen in this segment. For example, the Type S is equipped with heated sport front seats with perforated Suede inserts, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, a 16-speaker ELS premium sound system, and class-leading legroom for the rear passengers.
