A Look at the New 2024 Acura ZDX

Acura is getting ready to launch its first electric model, the ZDX, which will arrive in Canada in 2024 in both regular and sporty Type-S versions.

This electric SUV has been teased with pictures of camouflaged testing mules, but the actual reveal of the production version is getting closer.

This model will share its platform and mechanical elements with the Honda Prologue and both models are being jointly developed with General Motors.

This partnership will help Honda and Acura bring their first electric models to market quicker while in-house models are still on the drawing board.

Few details are known about the upcoming ZDX at the moment except that it will be offered in both regular and Type S trim levels.

As with other Acura models, the Type S version will be more powerful than the standard ZDX and it should also feature chassis improvements that will make it handle and perform better. Acura has also specified that this model will continue to prioritize the driving experience, meaning that drivers will have as much fun behind the wheel of the ZDX Type S than in any current Type S model.

This specific version is the one that features in the teased images, showing a low and long profile that gives it dynamic proportions.

The Acura ZDX will be the first model to showcase the brand’s new design direction which was introduced on the Acura Precision EV concept shown during last year’s Monterey Car Week, meaning that its design will influence other upcoming models.

The launch of the ZDX and the Acura-developed EVs which will follow in 2026 will fully establish the company as the leading party in terms of electrification efforts at Honda in North America.

The ZDX will also play a key part in helping Acura grow in the electrified era by helping it reach its target of selling only electric vehicles by 2040 and becoming fully carbon-neutral by the middle of the decade.
