The Cutting-Edge Safety Tech of Acura: Driving Forward in Assurance

THE CUTTING-EDGE SAFETY TECH OF ACURA

In the world of automobiles, Acura is a name that doesn't just signify luxury and performance but also paramount safety. In recent years, the brand has invested heavily in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and other safety technologies, effectively prioritizing the wellbeing of its customers. The impressive array of Acura's safety tech is an often-unsung story, and we delve into it today, examining the systems that have helped Acura maintain its standing as a pacesetter in the industry.

AcuraWatch: Keeping an Eye on Safety

At the heart of Acura's commitment to safety lies the AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies. Coming standard on every new Acura model, it presents an intelligent mix of both active and passive systems designed to assist drivers in mitigating potential risks on the road.

One of the standout features in the AcuraWatch suite is the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS). Utilizing radar technology and high-resolution forward-facing cameras, this system can recognize potential obstacles or hazards, providing visual and auditory warnings to the driver. If the threat is not addressed, the CMBS will apply the brakes autonomously, helping reduce the severity of a collision or, in some cases, prevent it altogether.

The Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), another essential component, helps keep Acura vehicles on the right track. If the system detects that the vehicle is unintentionally crossing over detected lane markings, it will provide necessary alerts and can even take subtle corrective steering actions or provide braking to help prevent the vehicle from leaving the roadway.

Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist System

Long drives can be tiring and monotonous, leading to driver fatigue and decreased attentiveness. Acura's Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) prove invaluable in these situations.

The ACC helps maintain a set following interval behind detected vehicles for highway driving, automatically adjusting speed to maintain the driver-set distance. The Low-Speed Follow feature further extends the capability of this system, allowing the vehicle to automatically adjust its speed to follow a detected vehicle at speeds under 40 km/h.

The LKAS subtly adjusts steering to help keep the vehicle centered in a detected lane, reducing the need for the driver to continually adjust steering. These intelligent tech additions make highway driving not only safer but also much more comfortable.

The Acura Multi-View Rear Camera and Blind Spot Information System

Backing out of a parking spot or changing lanes on a busy highway can be challenging and stressful tasks. But with Acura’s Multi-View Rear Camera and Blind Spot Information (BSI) System, these tasks become significantly less daunting.

The Multi-View Rear Camera provides three different views (normal, top-down, and wide) to help drivers gauge the situation behind the vehicle when in reverse.

In comparison, the BSI system alerts drivers when a vehicle is detected in the next lane's alert zone while signaling a lane change, promoting safer maneuvering on multilane roads.

Acura Traffic Jam Assist

Acura continues to develop and implement new safety technologies in its vehicles. One such advanced feature is the Traffic Jam Assist—a system that combines ACC and LKAS functionalities, helping maintain a set speed and lane centering in slow-moving, heavy traffic conditions. It's a feature that brings Acura one step closer to autonomous driving.

In the realm of safety technology, Acura is forging ahead with innovations that not only prevent accidents but also enhance the overall driving experience. It's this blend of luxury, performance, and safety that defines the essence of Acura, allowing drivers and passengers to venture onto the road with confidence.
